A Markdown-like tool for Legislative XML

Lexpedite supports the use of open standards in legal technology. Akoma Ntoso is an OASIS standard, also known as LegalDocML, that provides an XML schema for maintaining data about legal documents including legislation, judicial decisions, parliamentary debates, and more.

We wanted to use a subset of Akoma Ntoso to create the legislative documents that are encoded inside Blawx, but generating XML by hand is difficult, and there were no open source alternatives. So LEXpedite has created an open source tool called CLEAN (Canadian Legislative Enactments in Akoma Ntoso) which can be used to generate Akoma Ntoso compliant XML from a Markdown-like syntax.

CLEAN is used in Blawx, and is also separately available as open source software on GitHub.
